KNYSNA KART GRAND PRIX PDF Print E-mail
An event that you should not miss in the years to come!

The recent event held in Knysna as part of the speed festival turned out to be a huge success. There were one or two karts that won’t be the same again after meeting the tyre walls, but that is Monaco style racing.

Only positive feedback was thus far received in terms of the event from competitors as well as spectators. The turnout in spectator numbers was very good and the goal of taking karting to the people was definitely achieved. This event has the potential of becoming a calendar fixture not to miss in the years to come. With the atmosphere of a national event (without the tension) and double the spectators, this event is just going to grow bigger and better every year.

Although the track distance at first appeared rather on the short side for some competitors they soon realized on practice day not to underestimate the technicality of the track. It took a lot of head scratching too figure out how to keep traction and give the karts grip on the slippery surface. Traction being the biggest problem as the wheels was off the ground for probably 30% of the time. Well, a problem for the pit crews and fathers trying to keep the karts on the ground, not the competitors that was raving about completing their first flying lessons in a kart.

Event organizers made an exceptional effort to make everyone feel like VIP’s with a special opening event and small gestures throughout the weekend.

To those that missed out on this years event be sure to book your place for next year well in advance to avoid disappointment as the maximum amount of entries per class might be reached fairly quickly.
