Joshua Coertze took part in the 7th round of the Northern regions championship this past weekend at Zwartkops Raceway.
He classified 3rd, 0.090 sec off Pole position. The top 13 grid positions was decided upon with pole + 0.6 sec.
Race 1 was was a tough affair and he just managed to grab 1st place ahead of RKT stablemate Saood Variawa. Race two saw a convincing 3 sec lead win with local Jarrod Waberski trying to chase him down. The last heat of the day again saw him and Variawa working together and pulling a 4.7 sec lead on the rest of the field. Variawa would take the win by 0.1 sec over the line but he overall win would go the way of Coertze for the day.
This result puts him in a position to possibly finish under the top five in the NR regional championship with their last round also taking place at this circuit on the 31st of October. The northern regions had close to 30 drivers competing for the title this year.
10 y/o Coertze will be leaving for Lenato, Italy in October to take part in the Bridgestone cup on the 9th and 10th in preparation for the International Vortex-Rok Finals a week later.
